Hardwood Gates

'Our Wooden Gates, like a piece of fine furniture are built by true craftsman'

We work with what we consider the  finest manufacturer of Hardwood gates in the country. And have done so for nearly 40 years.

They are manufactured with the finest materials and techniques, and are of unparalleled quality.

We believe that to start with the best ensures a product guaranteed to stand the test of time and retain its initial magnificence.

You can choose from our library of existing designs, or source a style you have seen,  or work with our designers to create a truly unique gate.

Working with hardwood gates is our preference as they are a much more stable and durable material. Although the initial cost is higher their longevity is much greater than softwood, ultimately being better value.

With a good programme of preservation and maintenance your wooden gates will look the same after ten years as when you first installed them

Maintaining your Gates

Maintaining your Hardwood Gate is imperative to ensure they stand the test of time.  With a good programme of maintenance you are guaranteed that your Hardwood Gates will look as magnificent after 10 years as they did when you first installed them.

Gates with an oiled finished will generally be oiled on site, prior to installation, with a follow up coat within 12 months of installation.  We then recommend that gates be re-oiled every 12 months.  This is the best method of preserving the wood and maintaining the gates to their ‘as new’ state.

Maintenance for painted gates varies and will be influenced by the gates location and situation.

For untreated raw timber finishes we recommend, at the very least, two coats of clear wood preserver to protect against rot, decay and woodworm.  This will be carried out following installation and repeated annually.

Have a look at the examples below to see the difference that good maintenance will make to your gates.
